La Capretta is a small studio and gallery on Smithfield Farm in Berryville, VA. Nancy Polo began the studio in 1998 when she came to live on the farm to help start Smith Meadows. She currently focuses on acrylic paintings, graphic design and photo montage. Her works have been displayed at the bi-annual show in Millwood, VA; A Show of Hands Gallery in Alexandria, VA; and the studio itself has been included in the Clarke County Studio Tour where art by Nancy and her apprentice Lynsi Pasutti were on display. Nancy works on private painting and graphic art commissions, and she teaches small classes.
La Capretta is housed in a limestone building that dates to the early 1800’s. It is surrounded by raised garden beds of culinary and medicinal herbs, tomatoes, tomatillos and flowers. There is even a shinto styled sandbox where anyone can play as they watch the breeze move the grass in the flood plain of Long Marsh Run.
